Nat Gwilliam, MD - Psychiatry & Psychotherapy
Attachment-informed, psychodynamic, and integrative mind–body care
Psychotherapy
Ongoing therapy grounded in attachment, psychodynamic, and somatic principles.
Medication Management
Thoughtful, collaborative psychiatric medication care when appropriate.
Integrated Care
Combined therapy and medication in a unified treatment approach.
My Approach
Care is centered on your autonomy and lived experience. Treatment decisions are always yours—my role is to provide psychiatric expertise so you can make informed choices about what feels right for you.
I work collaboratively, integrating psychiatry and psychotherapy, while recognizing that trust often develops gradually. Many people come to treatment after difficult experiences in healthcare, and we can move at a pace that feels safe.
Medication is considered thoughtfully as one part of care, alongside therapy, behavioral strategies, and life context—not in isolation.
Who I work with
-
Adults experiencing anxiety, depression, or burnout
-
ADHD or attention/executive function concerns
-
Trauma-related or long-standing emotional patterns
-
Complex or overlapping symptoms that haven’t fully improved with prior care
You do not need a diagnosis to seek help
Services
I offer psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapy. Care may include:

-
Medication when appropriate
-
Psychotherapy (standalone or combined)
-
Coordination with outside therapists
-
Behavioral and lifestyle strategies
-
Ongoing adjustment of treatment over time
Medication Philosophy
Medication is one tool within a broader approach to mental health—not the only one.

How I approach prescribing
-
Careful, not automatic
-
Collaborative, not directive
-
Transparent about risks, benefits, and uncertainty
-
Integrated with therapy and broader context

When I recommend medication, it is because I believe it may meaningfully support your functioning, reduce distress, or create capacity for other forms of change such as therapy or behavioral work. I will always explain my reasoning clearly, including expected benefits, limitations, and alternatives.

I do not view medication as a substitute for understanding the full context of your experience. Symptoms often reflect a combination of biological, psychological, and life factors, and treatment is most effective when those layers are considered together.
